Sunday, Mr. Green Jeans, Sunday...
Apr. 7th, 2003 01:33 amWhat a day.
Woke up after dealing with the nutzoids life that is daylight savings time. Gah...Hour lost...feh.
Headed out to grab Dave and then off to Claremont to see GUSTER! We got there all early, so we went into this place called Rhino Records. I spent far too much money, but I did manage to find stuff for pretty cheap, and things that I've been meaning to pick up, or have had trouble finding. Among the debris, I picked up !!!'s album, and Danse Macabre by The Faint (finally), some more Bis, some Adam Ant and the new album from Placebo. Good stuff...
It was a good show, with one really good opening act (I believe her name was Anna Steelee) and an opening act that everyone seemed to like but me. Maroon5 was their name...and they sounded like Faith No More doing Motown's and Michael Jackson's greatest hits...badly. I don't know why, but I reacted very poorly to them, though they weren't horrible...just not my cup of tea...to the point that I was pissed off about them...weird that...dunno...
Anyrate, Guster kicked much bootay in their neat, accoustic, but yet very electric style. They laid out a really kick ass cover of Ben Folds "Not the Same", broke out into a Cake song in the middle of one of their own, and went off on a Pink Floyd lick at the end of another of thier tunes. It rocked.
And to end the show, they announce that they have a special guest to play the last song with them "They happend to be in LA recording an album, and we've invited them to play with us--The Cure!" And out walks Barenaked Ladies! And they all proceed to play "Boys Don't Cry." Fuckin' wonderous!
Now I am home, and I am worn out, tired, and looking forward to sleep, dreams, and maybe something that looks like The Void.
