Long Day Out...
Apr. 13th, 2003 02:21 amI have no idea how I'm still up and awake as I am right now.
After no sleep last night, I managed to get myself out of bed ready roll (read: wore what I slept in, which is what I wore the day before)and over to Bri's house by 8:15 for the big move. I beat Dave there, and Bri was still in his PJ's.
We had Bri's little bro and his friend there helping us, and using all of our skills and strenth, we got the U-Haul loaded up in about 30 minutes. A quick five minute ride, and we were vroom zoom at the apartment.
We'd been there about 10 minutes, when Bri's fiancee and family showed up with her stuff. By that point, we were better than a third done! We got all of her stuff, and the U-Haul cleared out in about 45 minutes...the whole move took no more than 2 hours! It was helluh scary impressive.
I followed Bri and Dave back to return the truck (nearly 4 hours ahead of schedule), and while I was waiting for them, I dipped into one of the Wherehouse Music & Video stores that is closing. Everything in the store was 40-60% off.
I prayed for self control.
Sure, there was shit left for DVDs, but the kind of stuff that I knew would be there, and that I was in search of wasn't likely to have been sold yet (I've been buying 80's movies of my youth, and total schlock film lately...) By the time that Bri and Dave strolled in, I had already moved onto the music section...THERE was where all the new stuff, and good prices were at. In the end (and 45 minutes later) I had spent $60, but am 3 DVDs and 5 CDs richer for it.
I have to say, I always enjoy the look on folks faces when I purchase movies and music. They never know what the hell to make of me...I mean, what can you tell about someone who has Aimee Mann, DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Placebo, and BB King on the counter in front of you? And let's face it, the movies didn't help: Head of The Family (piss poor horror), Barbarian Queen (HORRID, but fun soft core Sword and Sorcery flick), and Heathers. Ah, the guy flinched and then tried to talk to me about Aimee Mann...Hee...was fun watching him squirm...:-P
Quick trip about town, another load in the car, and back to the new place after that...We then proceeded to hang out at Bri's new place, drinking beer (after walking to the store to get some) and watching movies...
...That is until I was drunk called by what seemed the whole of the Storyreading 20 year reunion/anniversary party. It was great...they called on Kirkland's cell, and proceeded to pass it around for 40 minutes. I talked to some of everyone, and it was wonderful...though...
...Though it made me greatly miss those people in my life, and just being there...they all kept saying that I was missed...and upon hearing about what everyone is up to...well, let's just say I've got that "what the hell am I doing" buzz again...Maybe I'll figure it out, eventually...or something...
AAaaaaanyrate...I'm just kinda thinking about things again...I need to stop that...I'm thinking too much...
