Today was like having drunk sex with someone you're only slightly attracted to: Long, slow, uncomfortable, and never finishes and never really gets you anywhere.

Um, or something like that.

Work was slow slow slow, and frustrating. We've been dealing with a schmuck who's trying everything to weasle out of paying a bill, and it's just worn thin. To top it off, we've been busy, but not in a productive way. It makes for a funky funky time.

It seemed to take forever to get home this evening, and though I was really trippin' out on my music (Ah! Slick Rick! Ooo! The Clash! Mmmm... Cake...), all I wanted was to be home home home. Especially since I kept thinking, and overthinking about the last week, and how much of an ass I made/might have made of myself. Eh, I think too much. Anyrate, all that thinking and the day made me want to get home and curl up on the couch, and crash out.

I crashed out.

And somewhere around 8pm, I woke up with a start and remembered that I was supposed to be hitting a show in Long Beach tonight. I got up, tired as I was, fell back on the couch, stumbled over to the kitchen and got dinner.

Breakfast dinner is a wonderful thing, it is, it is...

Anyrate, got my act together, watched some boob tube, and zoomed on down to 7th and Junipero to The Prospector to see Wellsville and Katie The Pest play their little hearts out. In their own words: "Come see a boy play about his broken heart, and then stay to see the girl who made him that way."

Got there a little late, but it turns out that they were running behind anyway. Stolled in, grabbed a beer, and chatted with Mary from Katie The Pest, and Christian from Wellsville, and then found myself flirting with a 21 year old Mortgage Broker from Orange County. Cute, but not really interested in the likes of me, and that's okay. She was nice to talk to, and she at least played some of the flirting game. Either way, it was a fun way to pass the downtime between sets.

Wellsville rocked, as usual, and had many new people sign up for their list. Christian sold a couple of CDs, and started putting together his next show. Wellsville sounded the best that I've heard them (due in large part to the best vocal soundboard that they've had yet...you could actually hear Mr. C's lyrics, and get all moody with him. Thank god they're not really Emo...Thank you...

Katie The Pest wasn't so on target tonight, and I think that Mary (the drummer, and back up vocalist) was a little put out by that. Talia, the front girl, and guitarist (they're a duet like that) was rather pounded with the booze...no...she was A LOT pounded by the booze. And though she actually plays better when a little bit on the drunk side, she was raging, and it made her talk too much in between songs, and get a little sloppy with her vocals. Her playing on the other hand was fluid and intense, but it didn't match up with everything else that was going on. Funny that. But I still love ta hear them, and the crowd was with them, and so my opinion don't really mean too much about that, then, huh? Hell, I'm still rooting for them to get signed, because I think that they're an awesome force of music, heart and angry, boy bashing, punkie, girlie-girlie wonderfulness.

I bailed out early, wished congrats and katie grumbles with Christian (Talia is his X, and he's still a bit bitter, though friends with her), and I packed out my head, and strayed home. Thank god today's over now. Maybe I can feign sleep.
