Happy. Happy. Joy. Joy.

Work somedays. Somedays, it just makes you want to sit down and cry.
The boss and I had a long talk after hours yesterday which led us to have a full office meeting this morning, which we haven't in a while. We needed it too. Badly.
Have you ever had that point where the so-called "young ins" just don't understand why we have certain policy and proceedure in place? Well, that's why we had the meeting. To explain why we have some people blacklisted, and others we won't work with, and just some that we will shoot on site. It's like telling war stories, it is.
No, it IS telling war stories.
Needless to say, I ended up breaking out a couple of signed declarations that I had to prepare for the court in my first year of working here. They gawked, in disbelief.
"This here is why we just won't work with Dr. Blahthering Blatherschythe. He's an outright liar, and purgerer. He's a dishonest plaintif's whore, and..."
It was actually kind of painful to go over. Not unlike when you look at pictures of old car wrecks, or bad hair cuts. Painful, but distant enough to be able to go "Whew." or "Jeez." or "What the fuck was I thinking?"
Anyrate, it was productive, but now I have an even larger stack 'O random shit on my plate as a result. And what's worse, I now have to play mediator between my immediate boss, and one of my co-workers.
And here's the thing: She (the co-worker) has such contempt for my boss that she doesn't know (or refuses to see) when she's completely in the wrong. IN THE WRONG. That and she has given up on picking her fights well. She's been round and round with da boss on many different issues ranging from job duties, to being straight up subordinate. I honestly can't tell you a time before I got here when I had seen someone go toe to toe with someone--CLEAR insubordination--when they were in the wrong (even if they had valid points) AND NOT GET FIRED.
Sometimes, I just don't get this company.
*sigh*
But now I have many projects to do while we're in slow down (damn economic crawl crap...damn lawers...damn insolvent insurance companies!):
Writing (for the first time) our company's Policy and Proceedure Manual
Re-organizing and incorporating nearly 900 Cirriculum Vitae into our data base
Supervising the Categorization and specialty listing of all of said CV's
and
Continuing to act as liason and supervisor of our regular part time case coordinators (ie, my frat boy lackies)
Egads. And I volunteered for a bunch of this stuff too...what the hell was I thinking? Oh yeah...that I would be quitting soon...damn economy...well, at least I'll have something interesting to do while I'm waiting for my rocket to come...
