Apr. 25th, 2004 05:04 pmYesterday was a good day.
Spent most of the time at the Hockey party talkin' to Steve Sharon, who wrote the screenplay for the Dirty Harry movie, The Dead Pool. I met him before, and we'd discussed writing. He's a nice guy and all, but I dunno if I can get behind his take on film. He knows what he's doing, and knows how to get stuff out there, but I don't think he's a movie fan.
Yes, there is a difference.
Anyrate, he gave me some good ideas on how to go about doing what it is I want to do with the writing, and gave me a name or two to check out. And after sitting with him for about an hour, I think that I have yet another idea (geezus) for a movie, but whereas he keeps saying short, I keep thinking bigger. But then, that's just me.
We sat around watching Most Extreme Elimination Challenge for the next three hours, and drank more beer, and ate Za. 6 hours of hockey party in all. Oh, and we also watched the game from the 2001-2002 hockey season where the Ducks of Anaheim and The Calgary Flames played out the last 3 minutes of game over the course of an hour. Because a fight took place every 4 seconds. Funny, funny, funny.
And then home for laundry, cleaning up, and getting ready to go out and meet folk for the late show of "Johnson Family Vacation" up at Universal City walk. Lots of giggles in the movie, but it's a renter, at best. Surprisingly NOT a rip off of National Lampoon's Vacation, but lots of similar stuff. Though the pissing in the cup scene was just beautiful though. And the CD action.
"I don't want no music of anyone that's been shot. Tupac...shot *tosses out the window* Biggie Smalls, shot *tosses out the window."
"Fine. Sam Cooke shot! *tosses out the window* Marvin Gaye, shot twice. By his daddy. *tosses out the window* Al Green..."
"He wasn't shot, those were just hot grits"
"Close enough" *tosses*
Okay, *I* was amused. :-)
Sat around and talked until the wee hours, and then home again, and then collapse.
Now I've been up for about three hours or so. Woot.
Kill Bill, here I come...or sommat...
