Friday was a good time. Went out and had good food and great company, and then hit up Underground. And it was PACKED AS HELL. Good time. Danced a little bit, and smiled a good bit for various reasons.

Ended up sweeping down through LA as Mike Retro's ride vanished. But he was en route to the Freeway, so no worries. Got home, crashed out, and made plans for Saturday.

Got up, got rolling (slowly) and Mom and Grandma decided to come along with Anna and I to the Renaissance Faire. Which made for good, because mom has nice car, A/C, and I didn't have to drive (though I did spring for gas).

Grandma and Mom had never been to the Faire before, so they were pretty darn delighted. And when you get my grandma excited, there's not stopping her. Not really. She jumped right in with the "How art Thou?" and "That is a fine hat my laird!" and "Thank Thee!" goin'. She was having a blast, I do think.

Mom was just taking it all in, and was a bit on overload. But she was enjoying it fully, and in earnest. And since she was (and still is some) ill with a headcold. She managed to keep well, and enjoy the ginger tea that I found her.

We made our way through the vendors and Grandma and Mom were full of "ooos!" and "Aaaahs!" over some of the finework.

"I like looking at the people," was Granny's mantra through much of the afteroon. She was intrigued with the Washer Women. And some of the weirder customers. Like that guy who usually hangs out in front of Mann's Chinese Theatre dressed up like a Goth Demon. Yeah. He was there. As a shiny Goth Angel. The hell.

We stopped in for a bit to get a yarn spinning lesson, and then I was off to grab fish and chips for the fam, while they saved us seats for Sound & Fury's production of "Much Ado be do be do." And it was the famed last show of the day, so they pretty much got away with some of everything they could think of. Over the Top Bawdy.

I haven't seen my family laugh that hard in a long long while. Much laughter. Laugh so much they both had headaches. Good stuff. Everyone should see them when they get a chance. Right up there with The Mud Show for a good time.

Closed out the faire having spent most of my dough on getting us in, and gas. And grabbed a trinket for a friend, and then home...

...with a quick stop at Tower Video, where I spent too much money. But hey, I've been good this month, so why not? The Seven Samurai, Conan The Barbarian/The Destroyer two pack, and the Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse collections that just came out. Wow. I do so have a love hate thing with video. Gah.

Slept in today, after a late night with movies, and spent today with Mom and Grandma watching Conan. Good times. Good times.

I just wish this weekend had another day in it. Like next weekend. Rowr.

Bright College years, with pleasure rife,
The shortest, gladdest years of life;
How swiftly are ye gliding by!
Oh, why doth time so quickly fly?

The seasons come, the seasons go,
The earth is green or white with snow,
But time and change shall naught avail
To break the friendships formed at Yale.

In after years, should troubles rise
To cloud the blue of sunny skies,
How bright will seem, through mem'ry's haze
Those happy, golden, bygone days!

Oh, let us strive that ever we
May let these words our watch-cry be,
Where'er upon life's sea we sail:
"For God, for Country and for Yale!"
