It's a bit strange how an action movie can still be evocative.
Just got back from seeing Collateral. And the neatest thing about that movie is that it really is an L.A. movie. About connecting in Los Angeles. And that was just neat. The majority of the film takes place going from one place to another via streets and freeways. Just like L.A.
One character mentions to each other how L.A. is spread out and disjointed. No one notices anyone else. No one connects. But over the course of the film, we see that people do connect. Seperated, but still together.
Just like L.A. Cities connected by freeways. Connected by complicated interwoven routes which seemingly make no sense, but have an order which ties everything and every place together.
There was something else that I had to say, to write. It was in my head in the car earlier. Now it floats away like the warm winds blowing through the tunnels of the Metro red line.
Sometimes my life seems lit by the blue-green glow of a dashboard, and I wonder if I've ever known any other way to look at the world.
