On the road again...
Dec. 29th, 2004 09:09 amSo the past week has been interesting. In as much that I've gotten very little done that I'd planned to do. So, I'm like two days behind personal schedule. Which means that I'm going to shortcut, overlap, and slightly freak out before I just say screw it and start going on the road.
I've been enjoying family, and some friends, and in turns have been really annoyed with some people. Girl (make up your mind), client (gah! last minute changes! Gah!), and myself (GAH! GAH! IDIOT!). But, it's all good.
Had my whole of yesterday get tossed and turned upside down by one phone call...a week late phone call. So I spent 4 hours trying to track a guy down so stuff could get done...*sigh* And I'm still not sure it's done yet, and I'm waiting. Thank gawd for cell phones and email, or I WOULD KILL...and possibly be killed. But for the most part, the big ugly is done, so that's happy.
A tornado passed over Long Beach and Compton last night. That was freaky. There was a complete Vomit of rain, hail, lightening and deafening thunder that passed over the house for like 20 minutes, and then it stopped. We flipped on the news and they're all "There's a tornado watch for Long Beach, Compton, Palos Verde, Downey and Bell" and they showed the storm track and it had passed like right over our area. Sure, the news was a little late, but hey. Whatever.
So the plan, as it currently stands, is to travel up North to The Bay Area for NYE, but I'm still trying to figure out if folks are around yet...and if I can make the trip at all, given the amount of landslides, random snow and general weather that's happening in California right now. Most notably, I'd like to be able to get through Tejon Ranch, the Gorman pass and the Grapevine on I-5 without having to pull over for fog, landslides or non-sticking snow. I mean, chains? What for? That's not snow...that's a sneeze...Maybe the crazy wild winds (which have pushed over a truck up there and killed the driver--yikes!) will die down just long enough.
Damn. The plan was to leave out of here by 10am. Oh, that's SO not gonna happen.
