Sep. 2nd, 2005 02:01 amJeez. Just get in and get folks out. Get them *water*. Freaking Tens of Thousands of people who are probably in shock, who've neither eaten, or had water, or most likely slept have been living for the better part of a week in crampt quarters, with fear, no information, feces and dead bodies lying around. What do you think your reaction would be? I mean, yes, lawlessness is going on. Insanity.
INSANITY. Most folks haven't had water in what? Three days? Um, you can start to go crazy from dehydration, n'est-ce pas? I wonder how many folks tried to drink some of the boiled brack that's down there.
Sure, The President of The United States has said on TV and Radio that "Help is on the way," but I seriously doubt if anyone down there knows this. And really, I don't think they care anymore. For all they know, this is the end of the world and society has gone the way of the Dodo.
New Orleans is writhing in its own shit, quite literally. It has turned upon itself and is lapping up its own bloody bile. It turns and digs its teeth into its own wound, and it pains to watch, to hear.
I don't understand, and yet I do. And all I want to do is just give folks a drink of water, and help them move, what? A Hundred miles north? Two? 300 Miles West. Just get them out. Spread out all that grief so it's seeded to the rest of the nation, so it can be borne with others and not made to feed on itself, fester and rupture like an untreated boil.
My God. My people. Our people. Our Nation.
I pray that this passes soon. It has to pass soon. We still have living to find. We still have dead to bury.
