Neil ([livejournal.com profile] glaciation) came up with this, and posted in his LJ...I found it amusingly true, and decided to post it here for all my Conservative Christian Brothers and Sisters looking for a litmus test to the sanity and open mindedness of your Liberal friends. Christian Liberals (Gasp! Can there be such a thing?!?!) such as myself should pay close attention.

The Real Value of Narnia

(as posted by [livejournal.com profile] glaciation)

I believe that, above and beyond being a recounting of one of my favorite stories, the upcoming The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe movie will provide a valuable service to humanity. Put simply, it will give Christian conservatives a long-needed tool for discerning the "crazed liberal" from those of us who are not planning to serve the Antichrist by putting microchips in their butts. To illustrate its value, I demonstrate two use scenarios whereby the Christian conservative uses The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe to their advantage.

Case I: The Reasonable Liberal
CC (Christian Conservative): Are you going to see The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe?
RL (Reasonable Liberal): Yes. I'm really looking forward to it.
CC: Did you know C.S. Lewis was devoutly Christian, and Narnia is widely considered a Christian allegory?
RL: Yes, actually, I do. I've read The Screwtape Letters as well as the whole Chronicles of Narnia series. Lewis is a great author, and it's really interesting seeing how he thinks about things. I don't buy that it's an allegory per se, but I can see where the observation comes from.
CC: Well, cool.
RL: Yeah. I'm going on opening night. Want to come?
CC: Okay, let's go!

Case II: The Crazed Liberal
CC: Are you going to see The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe?
CL (Crazed Liberal): I'm thinking about it. The special effects look good.
CC: Did you know C.S. Lewis was devoutly Christian, and Narnia is widely considered a Christian allegory?
CL: What?!?! No! I will not send my money to that damnable religious hellspawn blah blah froth hiss!
CC: (sensibly backs away to a safe distance)

As is self-evident from this example, any liberal will immediately have one of these two reactions, thereby allowing precise evaluation by the curious Christian conservative. In this way, the "Narnia Test" provides the Christian conservative with a counterpart to the liberal's very effective "Harry Potter Test" and "Darwin Test."
