Because I'm quickly passing out from not sleeping nigh enough...
Went with fam to seeKing Kong . Enjoyed, even if it was a *little* bit on the long side. But enjoyed it. A nice love letter from a guy who loved the original film. Jackson takes his time getting there, but once there, it's good. And thanks for keeping the original ending line. Nice Touch.
But, as an aside, I'm going to start bringing my beat down stick to the theatre because, 1.) If the film ain't a family friendly thing that's aimed for kids, you don't DON'T bring 3 and 4 year olds to some movies. I don't care. Find a baby sitter. Or wait until it comes out on DVD...but really, dudes...King Kong? with 3 year olds? Crack Smoking much? --And 2.) Theatre hoppers who use cell phones to coordinate must be shot on sight. When I was a kid, we hopped the old fashioned way--with fear and luck. But not with 15 people in four theatres. Asshats. "Where you at?" indeed...
Got home and stayed up waaaaaaayyyyy too late with the mom. WatchedBatman Begins and then I stayed up ass late watching the Blood Feast special edition DVD...hee...grandfather of all Bloodbath slasher flicks. Excellent.
Woke up early today to race the garbage man to the curb. 3.5 hours sleep. Just like old times. Drove grandma to get "breakfast" from Burger King, got back and watchedSideways , which caused me to have a long talk with Mom about wine (the little I know), and made me want to drink Pinot...*sigh...keeps happening...
Met up with Lish and Tera up at Wilshire to see the Mayan King exibit up at LACMA. Which was really cool. And crowded. But neat. It's amazing to see how complicated and amazing the artwork, rituals, and written language were in a continent removed from the "rest of the world." Amazing culture up and around hundreds of years before Christ--and a huge, intricate, thriving empire which given the chance, might have given its contemporary Rome a run for the money.
After being emptied out into the gift shop (how very Disney of them), we took a quick walk next door to the La Brea Tar Pits and watched...the tar pits. Well, there was some fun debate as to whether or not it was "just pumped in murkey water" which was ended by strategic dropping of a dime and a juditious pointing out "See all the TAR." Fun, fun, fun it was and may smiles. And weird tar jokes.
I noticed around this point that we were right next door to the SAG office, and I cursed myself for not just bringing some paperwork over to the office instead of trying to mail it. Dumb ass. Ah well.
We zipped up Fairfax ("zipped" is a loose term) and had a quick dinner at Canters. I think our waiter, the grey haired, cocky, nice guy Chris was flirting with Lish something fun, as he stayed around a little bit longer each time he filled up her diet coke. Either that or he really has a weird fetish for making cute girls have to pee.
I digress.
Brought my ass home, tried to write some, but ended up removing old brackets and putting up new ones for the curtains in the bathroom. Yes, that's right, I hung curtains. But I got to use a power drill when doing it, so nyah.
