...In Which Anthony Bids 2005 Adieu...
Dec. 31st, 2005 02:52 pmIt's raining outside in big, fat drops, which rattle the aluminum strips on top of the house.
2005 has been very kind to me. It's given me a chance to make many new friends, many dear friends, and come closer to older ones. It has let me do some amazing things, take some chances that I would never have considered doing, create some things that just a year ago I would never have thought I could do. It's allowed me to laugh unabashedly, sing loudly, experience art, witness happy accidents, and cheer on others.
2005 has been, in many ways, a wonderful playground.
2005 has been very mean to me. It's caused me to take several steps backwards, emotionally, financially, socially. It has inhibited certain growths that I had expected to, hoped to take. It has taken friends from me, is taking friends from family, and has attempted to break my soul on multiple occassions. It's stolen some of my creativity, my hope, and took away a little bit more of my innocence.
2005 managed to break my heart. It did not, however, break me.
In short, it was, a year.
To quote Charles Dickens:
To all my friends, relations, loved ones, ex-lovers, family, acquaintances, enemies, and casual passers by--I wish you the best of times. May the New Year shine bright, glowing, and hold promise, wonder, and happiness.
Happy New Year.
With warmest regards,
Anthony

To quote Charles Dickens:
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way--in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.
To all my friends, relations, loved ones, ex-lovers, family, acquaintances, enemies, and casual passers by--I wish you the best of times. May the New Year shine bright, glowing, and hold promise, wonder, and happiness.
Happy New Year.
With warmest regards,
