Stayed home from work today. The family made me stay home from work today.

Fever of 103.4 around midnight. It dropped to 101 this morning, and went back up to 102.2 around noon. Feel like crap. Having small fits of delirious dreams followed by fit filled sleep.

In turns sweaty, chilly, cold, blazing hot.

My lips are swollen. Right tonsil swollen. Glands on both sides of my neck are swollen. My neck is tender. My neck on the right side hurts, as does my ear. When I swallow, I have head explodey. When I open my mouth up too wide, I have head explodey. If I move my jaw *just* so I have head explodey.

I haven't really had any water today, as it is pretty much unbearable to swallow.

Going to the Urgent Care Unit tonight. Hoping it's something simple. Just a cold. Hoping it's not tonsilitis, or worse yet, West Nile Virus (since Compton is right next to new hot spot Long Beach).

Fever is feeding paranoia. Need more sleep. Tired of sleep. Sick of laying down. Can't sit up too long...

Urg...

Jeez, that stinks. Don't let the throat keep you from drinking, as you will get very, very sick! Dehydration can kill you. Seriously. I could have died from it this past fall, with a stomach virus I had, if I hadn't gone to the hospital. If you can keep down some ibuprofin it might help the pain so you can drink more.

No time for rest. I've only got another 30 to 40 years. I might miss something.

Plus I've never been an eight hour guy. I *have* however been a "my biorhythm says I should be sleeping between 3 am and 10 to 11am" kinda guy. Give me five hours in there, and I'm usually okay.

Yeah. Doc says Strep. This shit hurts, too. But no steriods for me. Only the mother of all antibiotics.

West Nile only recently hit LA, and it's been in the news around the clock. We've had a number of deaths already, and everyone is freaking out. Fortunately, I'm not 80, so you know. Less at risk.

Fortunately the birds aren't contageous. Just kinda gross...

Eep! Drink fluids no matter how bad it hurts. apintrix is right, dehydration can kill you. I had a terrifying heart-attack-like experience once when recovering from a stomach flu because I hadn't had enough to drink. Try herbal tea with plenty of honey - that usually is at least bearable. And go to urgent care.
I hope you feel better soon.
