Say It Loud! I'm Geek and I'm Proud!
Sep. 18th, 2004 01:04 pmLast night was a good time. A great time. Especially after such a bum week.
I forwent an evening at Underground and even a college party with "Lingerie" as the theme. (Drew (
snuff_daddy) called me to the curb on that one.) and I opted for that thing that I do...
Marc (
thrasymachos) threw a game for a bunch of us, including Justin, Holly, (
chatoyn), Adam, Eric and Wilson. Most of us had no clue what system it was, but we had our suspicions. Mainly because there were certain key questions in the 50 question S.A.T. test that he had us take about our characters. Pretty neat that.
So he dished out the game Amber to my delight. Hadn't done that one since Jim V. ran a play by email game way back when.
We have an interesting assortment of characters who all seemed to be based off of some other character/person type. I'm basically playing Charles Bukowski as if he were a boxer. I think we also have Alice in Wonderland the Goth girl version. Someone is playing Kaiser Soze in a wheelchair. Oh! And we have the African version of Osama Bin Laden meets Idi Amin. I think one of the guys is playing the lead character from Stephensen's Zodiac, and one other looks like he's Agent Mulder in the C.I.A.
This is going to be a fun campaign.
We talked over a lot, drank some beers, played with Adam's Beautiful Akita, ate Thai, made dumb jokes, and wrote bad notes to each other and titterd, and had a great old time. Oh yeah, and we did some gaming and role playing in there.
Most everyone was parked way down the way over past Adam's place (which we had to vacate a little before 11, because he had to jet for another engagement), and we zoomp'd over to Marc's.
We sat around after game and shot the shit for a while, told old stories, laughed a lot more, and then called it a night. Marc and Eric went walking back to Eric's car, and I drove Justin, Wilson and Holly back their cars.
I made my way through the labyrinth that's Marc's neighborhood after a while, cranked up the radio and made my way onto the 405 and flew with rebourne wings.
Mom was still up, watching Angel on DVD.
"You have a good night son?"
"Yup."
