Friday night was spent with Manny
manzano making him "get up, get out, getting over it, getting on, to be strong" (thank you Tevin Campbell and Quincy Jones), and was spent at underground, getting tipsy, dancing, talking, flirting, and generally having a good time. Went out rather late afterwards to Canter's Deli, and ate until the weeee hours as Manny checked out the cute waitress with the sweet laugh. For some reason I was stuck on the magician at the table behind us...I'd seen the one guy on tv a bunch and couldn't remember his fracking name.
Saturday was run on far too little sleep (read: close to none) and Alex, Jenn and I sat through a casting/audition session for the upcoming short we're filming. Lots of good talent, and some really horrible stuff. Amazing what's out there...amazing that we managed to get a former J-Pop starlett...awesome...
Sunday was an early day (again), and then ran late as Dave and I hit Discourse to support DJ Liz, Karen (
kar3ning), Carlos and Juan's club. Fun, but left me with too little sleep...again...
Monday sucked hard, work is now feeling like shouldering a ton of bricks of my own device (my bog is of my own device, and I know it), and to make matters worse I got ill, between the lack of sleep and something that I ate...I think I had mild food poisoning, cuz, damn...ain't felt that fragged in a while...Green...green is the word of choice.
Went home, tried to sleep, and couldn't and fell asleep sometime circa 3:30am, I think...
Tuesday sloughed through work, and had a bit of a letdown by a client. But hey, got to hit a freaking cool Writer's Guild of America Panel that night, courtesy of April. Three writer directors talking about their craft. How freaking cool is that...afterwards, zipped over to Alex's to fiddle with some footage, and to talk shop for a bit. I got home around...midnight? Fell asleep eventually...
Wednesday night was editing, editing, editing. And it still wasn't there yet. Alex's stuff looks AWESOME, and it's clean and lovely. Mine, not so much. But it was getting there...slowly...Got home late, and caught myself micro sleeping. The center divider on the 405 is scary on no sleep...
Today was...hard...it's all been hard, really. I'm fried, and have been since before VEGAS, and frankly staying up drinking and gambling until 6am in Sin City didn't help matters much...Gah. Came home after work and crashed out for a whole hour. Watched Survivor. Ate some dinner. Got back on the road and went to Alex's for more editing. Have it to a place where it is watchable (somewhat), and much tighter. 4 pages of script, compressed down to just--JUST over 2 minutes. Cut cut here, and cut cut there...there a cut, there a cut, everywhere a where the hell can I cut from? Just cut the whold fracking thing. Got home about...an hour ago now...
...shit...2:28am...damn multi-tasking on a freeze-happy computer. Dumb ass. Dumb, dumb, dumb ass...
Tomorrow is crunch day on all levels. At work, at screening (did I mention that we're screening these two shorts for a small little audience of friends and colleagues? Man, my celluloid vision SUCKS...), at sleep.
Crap. I just realized that I'm out of clean underwear. Well, shit. I wonder if I can survive the ten minutes for the short cycle on the washing machine...
Shoot me now.
