First, A Prayer:

Dear Lord,
In seven days you created the world. You made it a wonderful place in seven days, full of life, love, and activity. Dear Lord, while I thank you for those seven days, I ask you one more thing:

Give us this day ANOTHER DAY before Monday. Please.

Amen.

Second, a really brief rundown, cuz I'm tired.

I walked into work on Friday, and everyone seemed all amazed. it was funny, really. I mean, with the cats and dogs and mice and sheep and fruitbats and camels and leopards coming down (along with the rice and the antelopes an the eggs, and the watermelons, the cranberries, the locust, the sharpes, the grass, the apples and the dolphins, oh blessed Holy Hand Grenade), no one expected me to show up in the rain. But I did. And was promptly told to not talk.

Which was fine by me. I just wrote and researched all day. Worked well.

That evening, stopped by [livejournal.com profile] eeblet's new place to help her warm her house. Had her and [livejournal.com profile] applejack_12 worship my boots. Decided immediately to wear them on Saturday. [livejournal.com profile] bluenoteboogie was decked out in a really scary wig and hat that strangely would have worked for him. Had he been on Venice Beach, wearing roller skates, playing bongoes, wearing a lotta hemp and hawking paintings. It worked. Had some good geeky conversation, only to be trumped (I think) by star trek sound effects on a cellphone. Yeeeeaaaaaahhhhh...

Drove over to Underground, to say hello, cuz, hey, why not? Everyone was trashed, trashed, trashed already (it wasn't even midnight yet!) and apparently had been since club opening.

It was hella packed. Lots of new people at the UG, many of whom don't know club etiquette for shit. So much so that when a fight broke out (drunk+rude+crowded+assholemoronacy=fight), some guy who'd never been to the club before who wasn't even involved in the fight, called 911 before consulting with Dia, security, the bartenders or the owner. Just dialed 911. Dia should have decked him.

During the fight, some narder decided to try and swipe the cash box. Drew (because Snuff Daddy is the man), while in a great drunken state grabbed it back and dropped it off with Dia. Good man!

I left after having to restrain myself for the umpteenth time from decking some girl who kept popping me in the back of my head on the dancefloor because she wanted to get through. Really, I can't do UG some nights without a drink in my hand, or no sleep whatsoever (which is pretty much the same effect).

Woke up early on Saturday (ie, before noon), ran around and head up to Santa Monica to hang with this really nice young lady I met online. There was some nice Ivy League bonding (she went to Brown), a whole lotta rambling on everything and high tea (yes, there is a place in LA that does High Tea! And also serves Imperial Pints while showing Soccer Hooligans on the Tube! Ye Olde Kings Head Tavern. And a room full of Bulldog photos. Yeaaaaah.).

After tea (and really, you should always make sure that you use the restroom after having three pots to yourself), we waked down to the pier to check out the Ashes and Snow nomadic museum art installation. It was pretty cool, if not creepy, but made for an entersting coda to a pleasant afternoon.

Said my goodbyes, drove home (which took over a freaking hour), changed my kit and then headed out the door again to meet up with Dave and go get [livejournal.com profile] kumimonster. Zooped over to Jen X's place, got Kumi and then lit up to Hollyweird to hit up Bar Sinister. Kumi was doing an appearance. Dave and I were "Her Peeps" for the night, I guess--which rocked :-)

Hung upstairs next to Purgatory, hanging out with Kumi, Dave, Steve and Dave (two excellent individuals), and a visit from time to time from [livejournal.com profile] msmarina (Who, dear Goddess Anna, if I only get one thing for my birthday this year, I want one of those. Pleeeeeeaaaaaaaaase? GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS, freaking GORGEOUS. I think I didn't even realize that she had ink on her shoulders for over an hour. I was too busy looking at her eyes. Wowzers. Okay, I'm done now.)

I think I was pondering heading to the dancefloor (GREAT freaking DJ sets...I forgot how much I enjoyed gothic/techno/industrial stuff. I really enjoyed hitting Perversion and Velvet waaaaaaay back when. Guess I missed it...[livejournal.com profile] vsprtn, you, me and a trip to Bar Sinister in the near future.), when I remembered that 1) I needed to get up in the morning and 2) Kumi started to wilt. So we headed out.

Dave and I were driving back towards the freeway on Selma (carefully avoiding Hollywood Blvd. which was blocked off and annoying because of the Academy Awards) and we noticed something we'd never really noticed before. Such a wonderful sign: "Big Wangs" Gotta love Hollywood :-)

Got up moving this mid-morning and Mom and I sped up the 405 to PCH (Route 1, for anyone keeping track) and waaaaaaaaaaaaay up to Malibu and then further up to a little campsite for the wedding of a longtime family friend. Her son who I've known since I he was a weetle weeetle kid got hitched. Isaac grew up well, and smart and very hunky, went to Europe for two years, learned 6 languages fluently, met a DROP DEAD GORGEOUS WOULD BE FASHION MODEL and fell in love, brought her home and got married. Today. His mom (one of my mom's longer friens--they've known each other for something like 29 years--) was beaming.

After they *finally* got underneath the Chuppah, they got the very traditional, but highly amusing ceremony rolling and after a nice walk uphill both ways through the forest (I'm not exaggerating), we got to the hall, had dinner, hugged everyone, got the two up in the chairs, danced the Horra (No, I can't spell it, someone correct me) and then got back on California 1 and headed back to Alex's place for his Oscar Party.

Now, sometimes, I think I'm doing well with the lateness...well, jeeez, who'd'a expected the Oscars to actually run *on time*? I mean, done at 8:30? What the hell?

Anyrate, I was there just in time to see the award for Best Oscar (Wooot! Yaaay Phillip! Yay Capote! Yay Character Actors!), and got to sit around and chat with many, many wonderful peeps--[livejournal.com profile] spyscribe, [livejournal.com profile] ellinor, [livejournal.com profile] fajitas, [livejournal.com profile] pseudosilence, Scott, and James, just to name a few. AFter seeing Crash get best picture (THANK YOU! No, it can't ever make up for Out of Africa beating The Color Purple, but it's a step in the right direction), we went over to the 50's Diner on Santa Monica and took over, chowed down and chatted.

Got home a little while ago. Talked to Max. Got online. and took waaaaay too long to write this (while checking out like 45 other sites and blah blah blah). Still need to do some stuff afore I sleep. And then work tomorrow. And then Fictionados.

And I realized about, eh, ten minutes ago that I'm really really freaking tired. The funny thing is that this is probably the most sleep I've gotten on a weekend in *weeks*.

I could still use another bloody day before monday.

"And on the 8th day God saw how little got done on the 7th day because of hangover recovery general head ailments and said 'let this day be for laundry and general straightening of pads and to slowly get back into a normal sleeping pattern' and he saw it was good." (Genisis I Can't Dance 3:b)

I'm trying to talk Fi into a California trip in July (in addition to many long-lost friends, my little sister is also moving out to Laguna Beach to start a nursing job). High Tea and Imperial Pints will go a long way toward convincing her. On the other hand, halfway through Crash on Friday night, she turned to me in horror and said, "Is LA really that bad?"

What can I say, antonius? If she thinks Crash is the whole story, I'll never get her south of Big Sur...

(Out of Africa beating Color Purple? Damn, dude, I wasn't watching Oscars back then, but that is a classic of unforgivable).

Oh, man, we have to cure her of that thought right now and away! Must make her watch Grand Canyon, LA Story, and Swingers. Need more good LA stories...

REally, it's not that bad. That movie is an intense microcosm of the whole picture. Really, for a good LA time, listen to Randy Newman, read some Bukowski, watch something by Huell Howser (I think you can actually download an episode of "Visiting with Huell Howser" somewhere online), or talk a lot about Disneyland.

Yes, there is a wonderful place which is walking distance from the beach in Santa Monica withe great big glasses of beer (though, really, it's only worth while wiff da guinness)--Ye Olde King's Head Tavern--complete with waitressess from England. Yup, real live accents from folks who've only been over in the states for a little bit. MMmmmmmmmmm...

Hey, if you two need a place to stay, and someone to drive you around for a weekend, please let me know. We have a lotta beds in our house. And I'd love to have you both over--if nothing else but for dinner. Yesh.

I ramble.

Hope you both are well..."Fi-Haven?" *HUGS*

Schweetness. Perhaps I'll add him, and he'll add me back. Maybe not.

Though, really, it was quite surreal, being surrounded by his photos and the DVD playing. I mean, there you are on the DVD, His photos, him there. Wacky.

So, you started downloading the podcasts for the commentary from Battlestar Galactica yet?

OhmyGOD! Thank you so much! *blush*

It was so great to meet you and have everyone there for the night. And now, with Kumi in town for another Saturday night, you should all come on back!!!
