Anthony vs. Tooling Around Los Angeles
Apr. 9th, 2006 12:15 amThings that Anthony has learned today in driving around flyering and scouting locations:
Crossing the street in Downtown can take you from literally Posh to Ghetto in like 30 feet or less. Freaky.
There are streets that look like New York crashed into Tijuana. There are other streets where it looked like San Francisco crashed into Compton while driving through Las Vegas.
There are a crapload of apartments hidden away between houses in Hollywood/West Hollywood. There are even more Houses hidden away just a stonethrow from major streets.
People take you much more seriously when you're scouting when it's not April 1st.
Little old ladies are much nicer than middle aged men.
Tourists are good people...when they're not driving...
In about 1 year there will a crapload more lofts and apartments in downtown LA...and still no one will be able to afford them.
There is no parking worth speaking of anywhere in LA until after 6pm.
Metered parking is not condusive to driving and parking, driving and parking, driving and parking. Especially when you've forgotten that you need change.
Cruising laws that define passing the same point 4 times within 2 hours are laughable. I don't call that cruising--I call that being lost...or trying to find freaking parking...
There are too many cool nooks and crannies to LA that I have yet to explore.
