Anthony vs. 5 Questions, Round 3--FIGHT!

1. Snakes: on or off the plane?
I'm not a big-time lover of the slythery things, though when they're itty bitty, they're fun to hold. It's a weird, strange feeling as they move over your skin. Not really cold, or slimy, but cooooool and creepy. I like them in concept. Marvelous creatures...SNAKES ON A PLANE!!!!
2. How'd you get into the film thing?
I've always been into film. Movies, love 'em, love 'em, love 'em! My oldest memory was seeing Star Wars at the drive-in theatre--watching an X-Wing Fighter fly over the black void, the whirrrr of the engines piped in through a little metal box hanging off the window. Right now our DVD collection is about 400 Plus (I have a fine, fine collection of really horrible films, Zombie Films and 80's fantasy.), and our video collection has over 1000 films (we had cable and a vcr for about 15 years...the 80's were very good to us). Read a whole lotta scripts when I was working tech support...it's amazing what you can find online. I've listened to probably hundreds of hours of director's and filmmaker's commentary. I love that shit.
Anyrate, I got this call a couple of years ago from my friend Alex:
"Hey, Anthony, what are you up to tomorrow?"
"Nothing much, what's up?"
"I've got a camera and an actress. Wanna come and make a movie?"
"Sure!"
And now we've done a buncha shorts, I'm writing far too many half-finished scripts, he's gotten some director's jobbage, he's done some producing work, and has gotten me on helping out.
But, as I've warned everyone--I'm a writer first, filmmaker second. That being said, I'm still making films...who knew?
3. Vernon Reid & Jimi Hendix vs. Eddie van Halen and Ted Nugent. Which guitar-wielding duo would win?
OOoooh! Chess game! Black versus White!
Round 1: Vernon hangs back and let's Jimi pound on Eddie with his Purple Haze Attack. When Jimi lights Van Halen on fire, he does some major damage--until Eddie unleashes the power of his axe. Jimi staggers back and Ted launches a barrage of arrows and shoots poor Jimi down.
Advantage: Team Whitey.
Round 2: Eddie and Nugent press their advantage forcing the Living Colour founder into New Jack City. He follows up with an attack of an Information Overload sending Eddie into a whirl, his brain replaying the video for Right Now over and over again until he collapses. Now finding himself at even odds, Vernon slips Under Cover of Darkness, sneaks behind ol' Ted's archery attack and calls in the cavalry, The Cult of Personality who stomp the crap outta Nugent until he's just a Vivid, ugly Stain on the pavement. Vernon howls out to the moon "Time's Up!"
Advantage, Winner: Black Rock lives! Elvis Is Dead
4. If you had All-Encompassing Power, what's the one thing you'd do to Los Angeles?
Oh, b'jeebus, that's hard. So many things. Sooooo many things.
Okay, I got it--so hard to do, though: I'd make ALL housing convenient and affordable to those who want it. Because I'm tired of hearing the "why are you living at home still?" question. Cuz, you know--DUDE, I LIVE IN LOS ANGELES AND HAVE DEBT UP THE ASS!!! I'd like to actually have an apartment of my own for a while, sans roomate. Done that (though, yes, I loved having y'all as roomates, but I'm sure you understand). And I don't want to live in the afordable ghetto (done that, too). I want what I want, where I want, and for at least close to how much I want. Cuz, Jeebus--$700-900- for a space the size of my living room.
Until I have that special super power, I'll just continue living (relatively) rent free and paying off my debt. (sooooon...soooon...sooon precious...)
5. Seriously, is "Snakes on a Plane" going to be the best movie in the world or what?
Oh, you so know it! "I'M TIRED OF THESE DAMN SNAKES!" *click click*
Why do I know--KNOW--that this is going to be one of the top grossing movies of the year. I mean, c'mon...the movie that delivers exactly what it says it will--SNAKES ON A PLANE BEEYATCH!
