You can take the Boy out of LA, but you can't take the LA out of the Boy. You can, none-the-less, have one hell of a time getting the Boy out of LA. Mainly because of traffic, and forgetting directions.

Got Piers, gassed up, and then got up and out on the road from LA to The Bay. We made excellent time up and even though we were nearly an hour behind schedule (my fault) we got there over an hour ahead of predictions.

After not being able to find [livejournal.com profile] senatorhatty and [livejournal.com profile] wildpaletz's place the first time, and knowing that we were ahead of time, there was a brief, but successful search for Coffee for Piers. Found it, found out where Chris and Susannah's was, we made a break for the land of cats.

Once we had gathered forces, built a shelf and stocked some of it, theorized on cat containment, and lots of false positives on what this big "giant pentium processor" was, we lit out to find Michael, Jen and get food.

For note, in Redwood City, Chili's has some really bad service. Though this is probably not indicative of their normal service, we got the shit guy.

Hung out, and then I made the attempt to get a room...

There was some convention in town, it would seem. All the rooms were filled, and overpriced, and it was late, and I was tired. So I tripped over to the Comfort Inn, where after I huffed over the $65/night, was given an $11 discount. (Hey, whatever I can get.) When I got to the room, I was quite delighted to find out that I'd gotten a SUITE! Sitting room, couch, queen size bed in a seperate room. AWESOME.

Stayed up watching bad movies, and VH1. How I miss cable.

Saturday was a wonderful thing. Sleeping in. Reading some. Watching far too much TV (Pluto Nash...I know why it didn't do well, but it wasn't *that* bad. Star studded though), and loving the VH1 Reuniting the Band Marathon! Then a journey to hang with Jen and Michael Pre party.

Watched Hockey with Jen. Good that. Chatted with Michael. Good that. Oggled Brenna's (Jen's sister) friend, Laura. Oh, shut up.

After a quick freshen' up, got back to the party, now in startin' swing, and started drinking....and drinking...and chattin' with folks--Dan and Cy, and Christie and Chrisber and Mel and Jeff, and NOAH!, Lynette and Earl, Susannah and Chris, Jason, Chris, T, Danielle, Kim, Dave O...good god, I think that I lost count from there...I was rather um...DRUNK by this point.

And, alas, I spent far too much of my energies on unsubtly hitting on Laura. That's one thing that always kills me about The Chase, as it were--I exclude out the whole of the party, friends, conversation, whatever to chat up some chica. And what does it get me? Honestly, no. But The Chase, while going on, is a damn good time. Frustrating as hell, but fun. But that's my stupidity.

Hung out some more, looked at the staged gore scene that was Michael's Impressive Technicolor Yawn. Made it back to my hotel, and eventually went unconscious.

Sunday, I woke up far too early, and then rolled over, thanking everything that I thought to stay another day. Much easier, much better that way. No way in hell I was going to make that drive back after the party.

Drug my hungover self out of bed and joined the truly drained. Michael and Jen and Piers and myself. Played Video games and drank water. Got food. Got back and played PS2 a bunch. Jen planted pretty plants and reseeded the lawn. She's productive like that.

After many long hours of makin' that Abe's Oddessy guy jump and slap and chant, and talkin' 'bout gamin' and stuff, goodbyes were said, and love was passed, and I went back to my room, watched some weird ass movie, and then went zonk.

Got up early (I was amazed that I was able to), and swung down to Mountain View/Sunnyvale to get Piers from Susannah and Chris' place, and then made GREAT time down 85 to 101 to 152 to I-5.

Then I was attacked by a Tumbleweed. And when you're doing 90, that's scary.

Then came the bugs. We ran through a HUGE swarm of them. Sounded like gunfire. Again, when you're doin' 90 it's freaky. Had to have been like a couple hundred of them. And all of the cars that were clustered around me had smeared windows. Woof.

We got back to LA in GREAT time, hung out a bit, and then I went home. An hour in traffic and then home to a happy family, who immediately headed out to do that thing with the casino thing.

And now it's popcorn and tv and phonecalls. And maybe some soul searching. If not self evaluation. Maybe some personal upgrades.
